Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving

Happy ThanksgivingAs we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you who dedicate yourselves to caring for and supporting patients and each other with care and respect. Standing together, we are resilient and impactful in our shared purpose.

As we celebrate this holiday on the heels of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, I want to acknowledge the Indigenous peoples practices of giving thanks for thousands of years before settlers came to Turtle Island. I also want to acknowledge the ongoing hardships we or others around us may be experiencing with health, financial strain, impacts of the pandemic and climate and other global events on our families.

In these times especially, it’s important to reflect on the gifts in our lives. In the midst of challenges, it’s essential to recognize the strength that resides within us and the blessings that surround us. Your compassion and unwavering commitment to excellence in service to our patients and communities are gifts that inspire us all. I also invite you to include in your thoughts – and prayers if you are so moved – those among us who are less fortunate, especially those who may be alone, in hunger or in illness or pain.

Let us take a moment to appreciate the diverse tapestry of cultures and backgrounds within our staff and patients, learning from one another and fostering understanding. Together we can create an environment of empathy and support, ensuring everyone feels valued and that they belong here with us.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you. Your hard work, caring and innovation make a significant difference in the lives of others, and for that, I am truly thankful. I’d also like to recognize those members of the Waypoint team who are working on Thanksgiving Monday to provide care to our patients.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, love and appreciation.

Warm regards,
Nadiya Sunderji, President and CEO
