The Waypoint Research Institute is embarking on a research project to use magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, to advance the scientific understanding of the neurological bases of violence, all with a goal to enhance assessment and treatment of violent behaviour.
Led by Dr. Nathan Kolla, Vice-President of Research and Academics, the Institute is partnering with world-renowned researchers at the University of New Mexico to undertake this exciting and unique study.
The mobile MRI system is contained within a transport truck-size trailer and will be located on hospital property for a number of months.
Melanie Dupuis, Research Assistant and Dr. Jennifer Crawford, Manager, Research Operations have been working diligently with the clinical team including nurses, psychometrists and social workers to recruit patients for the study.
