Partners at the Midland Community Health Hub Host Truth and Reconciliation Event
As September 30th approaches, Canada will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day dedicated to honouring the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. This day also coincides with Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led initiative aimed at raising awareness of the intergenerational impacts of residential schools and promoting the message that “Every Child Matters.” The orange shirt serves as a symbol to honour the children who survived residential schools and remember those who did not. It also reflects the deep loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children across generations.
