New Ontario Health Guidelines for Long Term Care Facilities

On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, the Ontario Government announced an Action Plan for addressing specific challenges being experienced in Long Term Care facilities. Part of this Action Plan is to limit those who are working in long-term care to one employer for the safety of the staff and residents.

If you are employed at a long-term care facility, other than Waypoint, Directive #3 from Chief Medical Officer of Health outlines mandatory obligations you are required to follow. There are 2 key steps:

1. By 5pm Friday April 17, 2020
    * You are required to provide the name(s) of any Long Term Care Facility you are employed by to all of
your current employers using this FORM to capture the relevant information
    * Send the completed form to Waypoint's Jillian Legros at [email protected] by 5pm
       Friday April 17.

2. By 12:01am Wednesday April 22,  2020
    * You are required to stop working at any other employer should you decide to designate a Long term
Care Facility as your primary employer. If you decide to make a Long term Care Facility your primary
employer, you must notify Jillian. This is most important so the hospital can make any adjustments to
      scheduling requirements.
    * It is important to know that should you designate a Long term Care Facility other than Waypoint, you
will be provided with an Unpaid Leave of Absence, as provided in this new Direction, for the duration of
the time you are required to work at the other facility. This protects your employment status at
      Waypoint.

3. Duration of this Directive
    * This directive is in effect for a period of 14 days to Wednesday May 6 at 12:01 am. Any extension will
be communicated by Ontario Health and we will keep you advised.
