Mental health advocate and strategist Mark Henick packs house at Waypoint Annual Report to the Community

Nearly 200 people shed a few tears and shared a lotMark Henick of laughs as Mark Henick told his personal story of mental illness, suicide attempts and the stigma he faced – and his ultimate journey to find meaning during the Waypoint Annual Report to the Community June 19.

The meeting kicked off with Board Chair John Barrett-Hamilton offering words of welcome and heartfelt thanks to staff and volunteers for another tremendous year of caring for the people we serve. President and CEO Carol Lambie echoed John with her own words of thanks as she shared the highlights and successes of the past year.

Following the formal presentations, the business portion of the meeting was held. The Board reviewed and approved the Audited Financial statements for 2017-18 and appointed BDO Canada as the auditors for the next fiscal year.

Laurene Hilderley and Andrea Ahrens at the Have Hope photo boothA number of existing board members were recommended for re-appointment and three new directors were welcomed, all of whom will be officially appointed at the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario annual meeting later in June.

John Barrett-Hamilton, Susan Plewes and Catharine Bayles will continue in their roles as Chair, 1st ViceChair and 2nd Vice-Chair respectively, for the next year. We also welcomed back Betty Valentine as director for a three-year term along with Ted Walker and Cathy Backman who will both serve two-year terms.

Guests were able to have their photo taken at the #HaveHope photo booth, view displays about Recreation Therapy, Transitional Age Youth Consultation Service, Specialized Geriatrics Services and the CHIGAMIK Waypoint Health Hub, as well as enjoy a snack or two. Our Annual Report is posted here with hard copies available in the Communications and Fund Development Office.
